We’ve been to New York before but this summer we decided to go back for a foodcentric trip in Brooklyn. The plan was head over the bridge to explore Williamsburg’s food scene. We came back with a hot list of good restaurants and tips to share:

La taza de oro
One of those very unexpensive greasy spoons that can save your live. This Puerto Rican eatery in Chelsea neighborhood has been opened for decades. We stopped for quick breakfast before heading to our Airbnb appartment in Brooklyn. In the mornings, La taza de Oro servers some great potatoes, crisp bacon and eggs along with an amazing coffee. All for $5!

Go on weekends for the $12-brunch and free mimosas! We had Huevos rancheros and breakfast burritos. Pretty tasty but careful, they’re quite spice too.

Dumont
Dumont has a reputation for its burgers. Indeed they’re really good. Patty was juicy and topping were fresh. We also ordered the delicious Mac n’cheese for a complete American diner experience.

This is like beeing in food paradise. Smorgasbourg is a street-food market that is part of the Brooklyn Flea Market in the East River State Park. Every saturday, local food vendors go there to sell all sort of snacks and treats – from pupusas, asian dogs and tacos to one-bite cheese cakes and gourmet popsicles. My top-favourite was the brisket sandwich from Mighty Quinn’s Barbeque. The market is open rain or shine.

Brooklyn Brewery
Don’t forget to try some local beer. The brooklyn Brewery opens its doors to turists and thristy people interested in seeing how their beer is made. It’s really worth the visit.
